Design number 3 is a well known phrase at this time of year: "Ho Ho Ho". Our favourite big guy in red has been known to mutter a few ho-hos on his travels on Christmas Eve, so I had to include it in this festive series.
This is the 3rd design in the series released on the run up to Christmas so keep a look out for the release of each design and make sure you enjoy a 'time out' with these simple and relaxing designs. You may even want to gift a few to family and friends.
I've stuck with this beautiful icy green for my designs along with a sparkly gray yarn which you can find below:
Each coaster is worked in Tapestry Crochet with a Moss Stitch border to finish. If Tapestry Crochet is new to you, don't forget to check out my handy tips and tricks post which you can find here.
You'll need:
3.5mm/E-4 Crochet Hook
2 colours of Light Worsted/DK yarn
Tapestry needle for sewing in ends
For this pattern, you'll need to carry the colour not in use and change colour on the last yarn over of the previous stitch. When all stitches of a colour have been worked for that row, drop that colour yarn; there's no need to carry it to the end of the row.
Beginning '1 ch' does not count as a stitch.
Abbreviations:
ch - chain
st - stitch
sc - single crochet
RS - right side
WS - wrong side
MC - green
CC - gray

With MC, ch 23, starting in 2nd ch from hook…
Row 1 (RS) 22 sc in MC, turn.
Row 2 (WS) 1 ch, 22 sc in MC, turn.
Row 3 (RS) 1 ch, 7 sc in MC, 3 sc in CC, 2 sc in MC, 2 sc in CC, 1 sc in MC, 2 sc in CC, 5 sc in MC, turn.
Row 4 (WS) 1 ch, 5 sc in MC, 2 sc in CC, 1 sc in MC, 2 sc in CC, 1 sc in MC, 5 sc in CC, 6 sc in MC, turn.
Row 5 (RS) 1 ch, 6 sc in MC, 2 sc in CC, 1 sc in MC, 2 sc in CC, 1 sc in MC, 5 sc in CC, 5 sc in MC, turn.
Row 6 (WS) as row 4
Row 7 (RS) 1 ch, 7 sc in MC, 3 sc in CC, 2 sc in MC, 2 sc in CC, 1 sc in MC, 2 sc in CC, 5 sc in MC, turn.
Row 8-19 (WS/RS) as rows 2-7 2 more times.
Row 20-22 (WS/RS) as row 2.
Fasten off.
For the border, join CC in side of first stitch on the top left side. 1 ch, starting in the same st, 1 sc, 1 ch, miss next st; rep from to end, 1 ch. Rep for all sides, sl st to first st to join.
Fasten off and weave in all ends.
