Chain Link Entrelac Tile FREE pattern!

Work playful patterns into your home with entrelac crochet tiles!

Let's get started!!


You will need:


Yarn:

DK in 4 Colours:

White

Teal

Green

Pink


Hook:

4.5mm (US G/6-7) standard crochet hook.


Tension:

Gauge is not critical, but tension should be kept tight for clean lines and colour changes


Terminology


Tss Tunisian simple stitch. With yarn at back, insert hook from side to side behind next vertical bar, yrh, and pull up a loop, leave loop on hook.


FwdP Forward Pass. Tss across; loop on hook counts as first st.


RetP Return Pass. Yrh and draw through first loop on hook, *yrh and draw through 2 loops on hook; repeat from * until 1 loop remains .


Entrelac Blocks


This pattern follows the entrelac technique and requires 4 types of square block.


A. Initial Block the very first block and the only block required of row 1.

B. Starting Block is the first block of each row.

C. Middle Block is a block that has 2 joining sides: base and left side of block

D. End Block is the last block of a row with joining base.


SQUARE BLOCKS


A. Initial Block

Ch 6

Row 1 Starting in second ch from hook, yrh and pull up a loop to end. (6 loops on hook), RetP across. [6sts].

Row 2-5 Tss in each st across, RetP across.

Row 6 ss in each st across.


B. Starting Block

Row 1 Join yarn in first st of previous row’s first block, indicated by ‘o’ on chart. Ch6. Yrh and pull up a loop in second ch from hook, tss in each st across (5 loops on hook) final st is worked into the first st of previous row’s row1. (6 loops on hook). RetP, drawing yarn through 2 loops across. (omit first draw through 1 loop).

Row 2-5 Tss across, working final st into first st in row of block to the left.

Row 6 ss in each st across.


C. Middle Block

Row 1 Join yarn in first st of row 6 of previous block indicated on chart by ‘y’. Pull up a loop in each st across, working 6th st into block to left. RetP, drawing yarn through 2 loops across. (omit first draw through 1 loop).

Row 2-5 Tss across, working final st into first st of starting block to left of same row number.

Row 6 ss in each st across.


D. End Block

Row 1 Join yarn in first st of row 6 of block below indicated on chart by ‘y’. Pull up a loop in each st across, RetP across.

Row 2-5 Tss in each st across, RetP across.

Row 6 ss in each st across.

Follow Colour Chart for direction and colour guidance.

Row 1 Black A

Row 2 Block B, block D.

Row 3 Block B, block C, block D.

Row 4 Block B, 2 block C, block D.

Row 5 Block B, 3 block C, block D.

Row 6 Block B, 4 block C, block D.

Row 7 Block B, 5 block C, block D.

Row 8 Block B, 6 block C, block D.

Row 9 7 block C

Row 10 6 block C

Row 11 5 block C

Row 12 4 block C

Row 13 3 block C

Row 14 2 block C

Row 15 Block C


Border

Fasten off and weave in all ends of main piece


Join light colour yarn to top right corner. Ch1, reverse single crochet in each st around edge working 3 reverse single crochet in each corner.


Block as necessary



Colour Chart Rules

Follow chart for colour and direction guidance.

· Each square represents one block

· The chart should be read from right to left

· All rows are worked with the right side facing.

· Each starting block is worked from the right side

· Fasten off at each colour change and end of each row.
